About Praa Sands

Praa Sands is situated within Mount’s Bay on Cornwall’s south coast, within an area of outstanding natural beauty. Well known for its mile-long sandy beach, backed with sheltering sand dunes, which is just a 5 minute walk from the cottage.

The beach is ideal for families and suitable for all ages.

Lifeguard patrol times (2024):

Easter Holidays: 29th Mar – 14th Apr
Weekends only: 20th Apr – 28th Apr
Daily: 04th April – 29th Sept
Weekends only: 5th Oct – 20th Oct
October Half Term: 26th Oct – 3rd Nov
Patrol Times: 10am – 6pm

Dogs on the beach

Dogs are welcome on the beach, except during 10am - 6pm between July 1st and August 31st, when a seasonal dog ban is in place.

Local Amenities

Within 3 minute walk from the cottage:

Sandy Stores - where you can pick up essential household and food items, as well as local gifts.

SisuCafé – a local family style cafe and takeaway with al fresco dining options and home style cooking.

Within a 10 minute walk from the cottage, along the beachfront:

A beach bar & kitchen – selling hot/cold drinks, light bites and a full menu overlooking Praa Sands Beach. Plus regular live music sessions.

The Welloe - a bar / restaurant providing relaxed dining with panoramic views of the coastline.

A beachside stand serving 22 flavours of Kelly's Cornish Scoop Ice Cream, along with coffees and hot drinks, pasties and snacks to take-away.

An Activity Centre – offering:

Group activities / lessons in: surfing, bodyboarding, kayaking, coasteering, paddle boarding
Equipment hire including: surfboards, paddle boards, body boards, single/double kayaks, wetsuits and lots more
